Project SHIFT

Project Shift

Project SHIFT is a 12-week after school curriculum led by members of FRC 2601 for children between 2nd-5th grade. Primarily serving schools in New York City's District 25, Project SHIFT teaches students to create their own Scratch games through the engineering design process. After Scratch, students are introduced to Computer Aided Design (CAD) through TinkerCAD and its applications. Project SHIFT also runs in the summer, teaching at various summer camps throughout New York City.

Code Tiers

Code Tiers Founded by three Steel Hawks in 2021, Code Tiers is a series of summer workshops designed to bridge computer science resources with passionate students. Every week, virtual workshops are held, covering a variety of topics and programming languages containing classes for both beginners and intermediate students.

FRC 2601 Steel Hawks

Established in 2008, the Steel Hawks is a FIRST Robotics Competition team, representing Townsend Harris High School from Flushing, NY. Every year, they are given six weeks to construct a robot to complete various tasks and compete with it. The award-winning team has given over 300 students exposure to mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as computer science.
